Christmas Card Ideas: Swirly Snowflake Card
Looking for some homemade Christmas card ideas? This snowflake design, or any similar variation of it, is a very easy look to create and makes a nice winter wonderland Christmas card to send.
• 3 Snowflake rubber stamps (various sizes)
• A holiday greeting rubber stamp
• White ink pad
• White colored pencil
• White ribbon
• Dark blue & white construction paper
• Iridescent puffy paint
• Hot glue gun
• Stick glue
• Scissors
• Blue cards
The first step in making this card is to cut a piece of the ribbon so it is exactly the width of the card. Then, using the hot glue gun, glue the ribbon down so it is about in the middle of the card. Trim the edges of the ribbon if they are sticking over the side of the card.
Next you should draw on the swirl patterns on the lower portion of the card. We did this freehand, and we used a white colored pencil to do this. If you don’t have a white colored pencil, or it doesn’t seem to be showing up very well on the blue paper, you could also try using paint. If you do use paint, be sure you are using quality card-stock so it doesn’t curl. That won’t look very nice! Also with paint, you may want to put tape over the ribbon so you don’t get paint on it too.
Now we will move onto the top half of the card. As you can see, this portion is stamped with various snowflakes. We used two different stamps, and both were fairly small. To make the snowflakes look near or far, some you could use more ink on, while others you can blot a few times first, to make them lighter.
For both the large snowflake stamp, and the holiday greeting stamp, stamp them on your blue construction paper. Cut out the snowflake close to the stamped pattern, but leaving a small border. Then cut out the holiday greeting. Using the stick glue, glue both of these cut-outs onto the white card-stock. Then cut them out again, leaving a white border.
Finally, using stick glue again, glue the snowflake onto the card over the ribbon. Make sure the snowflake it stuck down well on either side of the ribbon, as it probably won’t stick well to the ribbon itself. Also glue down the holiday greeting on the bottom, over the swirl designs. The last touch is to outline the swirls in the puff paint to give the card some sparkle. We also added some dots on the snowflake!
Now you have a cute swirly snowflake card to send out, that is sure to warm up anyone’s holiday season!
We just love making cards with rubber stamps and another crafty technique that we like doing to enhance our stamps is to emboss the image. Well, we hope you like this easy-to-make Christmas card that we designed, and thanks for stopping by!
